The city police arrested four suspects for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs in Alandur and 150 grams of OG ganja and 1.05 kilo of ganja were seized from them.

Acting on a tip-off received by the Anti Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU), St. Thomas Mount police conducted a surveillance operation near Maduvankarai Bridge, Alandur, on Sunday morning. They intercepted four individuals and, upon investigation and search, found them in possession of OG ganja and ganja.

Police arrested the accused Valluar Manojkumar, 23, of Kolapakkam, Bernard D’Silva, 27, West Tambaram, Manish Choudhary, 22, Padur and Anand, 29, Anakaputhur. Police seized 150 grams of OG ganja, 1.05 kg of ganja, and four mobile phones including three iPhones from them.

After interrogation, all four accused were remanded to judicial custody.

In the meantime, Mylapore police conducted surveillance behind the Santhome Church, Mylapore. They questioned a man in the area, but his responses were inconsistent and evasive. Growing suspicious, the officers searched him and found that he had several small plastic containers filled with heroin for sale.

Following this, a case was registered at the Mylapore Police Station, and the accused — Khuthus Mia, 25, of Bejimara, West Tripura — was arrested. Police seized 51 containers of heroin, weighing approximately 35 grams in total, from his possession.
