The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) arrested four persons, including a woman, in Nungambakkam for possessing various narcotic substances.
Based on a specific tip-off, a special ANIU team, in coordination with the Nungambakkam Police, conducted a surveillance operation on Lakshmanan Street at Mahalingapuram in Nungambakkam on Sunday. During the operation, they arrested the four suspects namely Warren Craig Kani, 29, of Kelambakkam, Tahira Nihal, 26, of Choolaimedu, Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, 27, of Ashok Nagar and Sriram, 28, of Vadapalani.
During the search, police recovered 45.5 grams of methamphetamine, 190 grams of OG ganja, 5 LSD stamps, 2.3 grams of MDMA tablets, 18 grams of hash oil, a weighing machine, ₹8,400 in cash, one car, one two-wheeler, four mobile phones, and one tablet device.
Investigations revealed that the prime accused, Warren Craig Kani, had previously been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau and served a four-year prison sentence.
