Four men, including three contractual workers and an engineer, were killed when a speeding truck crashed into a road roller on a highway overbridge in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district shortly after midnight on Wednesday (November 26, 2025), the police said.
The collision occurred opposite a hotel near the Motipura industrial area. According to officials, the truck rammed into a road roller that had been deployed for repair work on the Udaipur–Ahmedabad national highway.
Engineer Asim Majmudar, a native of West Bengal, and workers Somabhai Nayak, Bhemabhai Nayak, and Raghubhai Nayak, all residents of Gujarat’s Mahisagar district, died on the spot. The roller’s driver, Sahed Babulal, sustained injuries.
The complaint was filed by Somabhai Nayak’s son, who said his family had been working as labourers on the highway project for the past year. On Tuesday night, most of them returned home, while Somabhai and a few others stayed back to repair potholes, he said.
The police have booked the truck driver — who fled after the crash — under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 281 (rash driving), and 125(A) (endangering life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation is under way.
