A ragging incident has been reported at the Government Medical College in Nagarkurnool, where four second-year MBBS students allegedly forced a first-year student to perform sit-ups and salute them. The episode came to light after the junior student approached the college administration around a fortnight ago.

Speaking to The Hindu, Principal of the GMC Nagarkurnool, Dr. Rama Devi, said the college initiated immediate action after the complaint was received. She stated that the administration examined the facts and conducted a formal inquiry into the allegations.

Following the inquiry, the four second-year students were found guilty of ragging. They have been barred from attending academic activities for two months. Their hostel membership has also been cancelled for a year, requiring them to arrange accommodation outside the campus during that period.

In March this year, the same college had reported a similar case in which a first-year MBBS student was allegedly forced to sit in an air-chair position and was assaulted by senior students. Three second-year students were suspended following that incident.
