Four persons held for late-night brawl in Udupi

The Manipal police have arrested four persons on the charge of indulging in a late-night brawl in Manipal on Sunday. The video of the brawl went viral on social media.

The police gave the names of the accused as Amar Shetty, Chandan C. Salian, Dhanush, and Ninad Ajay.

The police said that Chandan, Amar Shetty, Dhanush, Nitesh, Sujan, and Ninad Ajay were having dinner at the Dee Tee Bar and Restaurant on Sunday night. Chandan’s hand reportedly touched Amar Shetty’s shoulder accidentally, which led to a brawl among two groups of family members. The family members continued the fight outside the bar too.

Based on a complaint by assistant sub-inspector Mohan Das, the Manipal police station registered a case for offence under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar said the fight among two groups of family members was for a trivial reason. The case was booked against the accused for public nuisance and affray. The accused did not have any criminal background, he said.
