A four-star hotel will be coming up at Srisailam, the abode of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, in Nandyal district.
The foundation stone for the hotel was laid by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually from Prakasam district, while Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Nandyal District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya, Srisailam temple trust board chairman P. Ramesh Naidu, executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao and others participated in the âbhumi pujaâ performed at the temple town.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that the NDA government, after coming to power, had decided to construct a star hotel for the convenience of visiting devotees. As part of this, the Sri Venkateswara Groups had been allotted 1.5 acre land for 33 years to construct a hotel. The Sri Venkateswara Groups will construct the 126-room hotel with a cost of âč83 crore.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that land would also be given on lease to those who wish to construct hotels and contribute towards the development of Srisailam. The Minister said that the hotel management was asked to complete the construction of the facility in 18 months. âWe are looking at the hotel construction as not only a business opportunity, but also as a strong foundation for the development of tourism and employment opportunities to local youth.
Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya said that Srisailam was not just a place of pilgrimage, but it also had the potential to become the focal point of tourism development in the district. She said that the hotel, once completed, would provide 300 direct jobs and indirect employment to 1,200. Sri Venkateswara Groups founder Ramaswamy Venkataramana was also present on the occasion.
