Four youth who performed wheeling on their motorbikes with live fireworks during Deepavali on October 20 in Perundurai of Erode district in Tamil Nadu were arrested, and their vehicles were seized, on Thursday (October 30, 2025).

The youth had performed the stunt on the Coimbatore–Salem National Highway within Perundurai police station limits, and the video went viral on social media. Their act not only caused inconvenience to the public but also posed a serious threat to road users, say the police.

Based on CCTV footage and investigation, the police arrested R. Akash (20) of Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district, M. Sanjai (22) of Periya Sadayampalayam, R. Praveen (21) of Kasipalayam and P. Kavin (23) of Veerappampalayam. Three motorcycles used in the stunt were seized.

Erode Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha, in a release, warned that strict action would be taken against those indulging in activities that endanger public safety and disrupt traffic.
