
A gang of four youngsters were arrested by Ambur Taluk police on Wednesday for stealing ₹20 lakh worth new four-wheeler spare parts from a parked container lorry at Jameen village near Ambur town.

A gang of four youngsters were arrested by Ambur Taluk police on Wednesday for stealing ₹20 lakh worth of new four-wheeler spare parts from a parked container lorry at Jameen village near Ambur town in Tirupattur.
The police said that the arrested persons were identified as Sheikh Mohammed, 19, R. Jeenath, 22, Sanaullah Khan, 19, and Habibur Rahman, 21. They are childhood friends near Gudiyatham town in Vellore.
Initial inquiry revealed that lorry driver S. Harish, 28, a resident of Ambur, took the consignment from a private car making unit at Oragadam in Kancheepuram on November 21 and halted the lorry at night to have food an eatery at Ambur town.
When he returned, he found that the locks of the container were broken and goods were stolen, police said. Ambur Taluk police inspected the spot based on a complaint, and a case was registered. Police analysed the CCTV footage on the route and found that a few people stole goods from the lorry. Police also tracked mobile phone signals in the area at that time, and tracked the suspects to their hideout near Gudiyatham town in Vellore. Police rounded up the gang and recovered the lost goods from them. The arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. Further probe is under way.
