Gang rape accused detained under Goondas Act

COIMBATORE Three men arrested and jailed on the charge of gang-raping a 20-year-old college student near Coimbatore International Airport a month ago, have been detained under the Goondas Act.

T. Karuppasamy alias Satheesh, 30; his brother T. Kaleeswaran alias Karthik, 21; and their distant relative M. Guna alias Thavasi, 20, were imprisoned in the Coimbatore Central Jail.

Earlier this week, Peelamedu police team submitted a charge-sheet in the court of Additional Mahila Court within a month of the incident, under instructions of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Kaleeswaran is undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The detention order was served on Friday evening, police sources said.
