The Delhi police have arrested an alleged associate of foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon, an officer said on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Harsimran, 38. According to police, Mr. Harsimran is allegedly involved in several cases of extortion, murder and the Arms Act, and had been in touch with Mr. Dhillon.
The officer said Mr. Harsimran formed his own gang and has been named in 23 cases and declared a ‘bad character’ by the Shalimar Bagh police station. He was convicted in two cases but secured bail.
Using forged documents, allegedly arranged by Mr. Dhillon, Mr. Harsimran obtained a passport, and in January 2025 he flew from Lucknow to Bangkok, then to Dubai.
From Dubai, he went to Azerbaijan to board a flight to the U.S., but was deported due to documentation issues.
He tried entering Europe through the Belarus border, but was caught and deported to Dubai, from where he went to Bangkok.
With cooperation from local authorities in Thailand, he was detained and deported to India on Wednesday, the officer said. He was arrested upon his arrival.
