Government school students showcase innovative ideas at science exhibition

A district-level science exhibition and competition was held in Dindigul on Tuesday as part of the ‘Vanavil Mandram’ programme. Government school students showcased their project work at the event and also gave an explanation regarding the theme of the project.

The main objective of the ‘Vanavil Mandram’ programme was to nurture interest in science and mathematics among the students. The students were also encouraged to come up with projects and offer scientific solutions.

Competitions were held on the theme of local solutions for global challenges. Students from the government schools participated in the competitions. Each team comprised a total of three students. The winners of the regional level competitions participated in the district level event.

A total of 135 students from 15 regions participated in the district level event. The school students displayed their project and also submitted the research papers regarding the project.

Some of the project works that featured in the district level competition included the effects of plastic use, plastic pollution and prevention of usage of plastic, use of herbs and home remedies, vermicomposting, safe use of internet, environmental protection and renewable energy.

The best project works from the district-level competition were selected for the State-level competition. The students who win the State-level competition will be taken on an educational tour abroad.
