The Government Railway Police (Secunderabad) and the Railway Protection Force arrested a 21-year-old habitual NDPS offender on December 1 after he arrived from Nagpur carrying 4.104 kg of marijuana worth ₹2.05 lakh.

The joint teams were conducting surprise checks against drug peddling on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station when they intercepted the suspect.

The accused, Shaik Waheed, a bike mechanic from Shanthi Nagar in Lalapet, Secunderabad, had earlier been jailed in marijuana cases booked by the Lallaguda and Tukaram Gate police stations. He resumed peddling drugs soon after his release. Investigators said he travelled to Nagpur on November 30, purchased the contraband from an unidentified supplier and returned by train with the intention of selling it in small sachets to local buyers. He was stopped near Gate No.2 on Platform No.1 at about 11 a.m., where officers found two packets of marijuana in his backpack. Waheed reportedly admitted that he had procured the substance for personal consumption and resale.

The arrest was made by the Secunderabad GRP team led by B. Saieashwar Goud, along with RPF personnel under the supervision of Chandana Deepti, Superintendent of Railway Police, and S. N. Jawed, DSRP. Senior officials said the operation was part of increased checks targeting drug trafficking through railway routes. I
