Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said her government plans to take a lead in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and demonstrate how technology can empower every student, school and community.
“Delhi AI Grind will run for six months with an objective to bring together schools, communities, and industries in Delhi to develop solutions for real challenges. This is a major effort towards advancing Delhi as a hub for AI-based innovation,” she said while launching the city-wide initiative to prepare students for an AI-driven future.
Ms. Gupta said the initiative will reach over five lakh learners across more than 1,000 schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes and universities.
Sharing details about the programme, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that in the next four months, Delhi AI Grind will train 5,000 teachers as certified AI mentors, develop 1,000 student-led prototypes, select 50 AI youth ambassadors, and publish a national innovation compendium featuring ideas created by Delhi’s youth.
“Delhi’s educational institutions will be transformed into active innovation labs. Students will identify civic and industry challenges and work with government and industries to develop practical solutions,” said Mr Sood.
Indian Air Force Group Captain and the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station, Shubhanshu Shukla, was also present at the launch event. “You are the future. I am giving you a call to action. You have to work towards realising the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” the astronaut told the students in the audience.
