Govt. yet to decide on dividing Belagavi into smaller districts, says Minister

Satish Jarkiholi, the district in charge Minister, said in Belagavi on Saturday that the State government would soon decide on the issue of dividing Belagavi district into smaller districts.

To a query, the Minister said that the State government will decide on the division of Belagavi district into smaller districts for administrative convenience.

“Belagavi is one of the biggest districts in the State, and several organisations have been demanding the division of Belagavi. They feel that smaller districts would lead to better administrative convenience and help people get easier access to government schemes and programmes. Some State-level committees have recommended the division of the district. The State government will take a decision on this issue soon,” he said.

Cabinet reshuffle

“The issue of the Cabinet reshuffle has been under discussion since the beginning. But the high command will decide on the cabinet reshuffle,” Mr. Jarkiholi said.

“Several leaders are eligible to become Ministers in the Congress party. But only 34 people have the opportunity to be so. The party high command will decide on who should be retained and who should be dropped, or which new leaders should be included. None of us is authorised to make decisions or speak about it,” he said. He reiterated that the statement of Yathindra Siddaramaiah was about AHINDA leadership, and not the leadership of the government or the party.
