The State Election Commission (SEC) released the schedule for the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections, announcing that the polls will be held in three phases on December 11, 14 and 17.
The notification issued on Tuesday evening stated that there will be a two-day interval between each phase to ensure smooth conduct of the polling process across rural local bodies.
According to the schedule, polling will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the counting of votes will begin at 2 p.m. on the same day. Nominations for the first phase will begin on November 27, the second phase on November 30 and the third phase on December 3.
With the issuance of the notification, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect across the State. The SEC has directed district administrations to make all necessary arrangements for the three-phase electoral exercise.
