Dismissing the possibility of a ‘November Revolution’ in the ruling Congress in Karnataka, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy said he does not foresee any possibility of a change of leadership in the State Government.

On November 7, responding to speculation about change of leadership, Mr. Kumaraswamy, a JD (S) leader, told reporters in Mysuru that it is not easy for the Congress party to replace Siddaramaiah.

He said he knows Mr. Siddaramaiah’s nature very well, as he was in their party earlier. “So, nothing is going to change,” he said.

With regard to Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar’s political aspirations, Mr. Kumaraswamy said Mr. Shivakumar always says he speaks with God. “How would we know what God tells him. It is a matter between him and God,” he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy also dismissed Mr. Shivakumar’s prediction that the Congress will return to power in 2028, and said he had seen what had happened to people who claimed that they would rule for 10 to 20 years.

Greater Mysuru

Expressing skepticism over the formation of ‘Greater Mysuru’, Mr. Kumaraswamy said Mr. Siddaramaiah had proposed the formation of ‘Greater Mysuru’ only to compete with Mr. Shivakumar, who had piloted formation of the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
