The Kerala High Court has dismissed the plea of Elsie George, vice chairperson of the Ernakulam district panchayat, who had approached the court challenging the rejection of her nomination to contest as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate from the Kadamakudy division in the forthcoming local body polls.
The court dismissed the plea, saying that it could not intervene since the electoral process had already begun. Her nomination was rejected on Saturday on the grounds that a person who nominated her was not from Kadamakudy.
She had approached the court, saying that she was not allowed to file her nomination papers afresh, although she arrived at the collectorate ahead of the deadline on Saturday.
