Headmistress suspended over unclean toilets

Headmistress of Zilla Parishad Girls High School in Sangareddy Roja was suspended over poorly maintained and unclean toilets in the school. Sangareddy District Collector P. Pravinya issued the instructions after conducting a sudden inspection of the school on Friday (November 7, 2025). Though toilets were available and functional, maintenance was lacking. She has also come across issues with overall sanitation and facial recognition system (FRS) at the institution. 

District Education Officer (DEO) Venkateshwarulu was directed to replace the sanitation staff and take measures for effective implementation of FRS. 

Ms. Pravinya said that the budget is released every month for sanitation and maintenance of bathrooms, depending on strength at schools. Issues with bathrooms in schools in the district were divided into three categories — infrastructure not available, infrastructure available but not functional and infrastructure available and functional but maintenance is lacking. The Collector said that instructions were issued to regularly monitor the issues and utilise funds allotted for sanitation. 

Meanwhile, Gadwal Collector Adarsh Surabhi noted that wrong data regarding toilets at schools was fed in portals and issued directions to officials to correct it immediately. At a meeting with with Education department officials, he directed them to ensure internet connection is provided to schools lacking it in the next 10 days. Midday meals have to be cooked using only LPG cylinders and connections have to be taken. He also discussed implementation of PM Poshan, PM Shri and other schemes.
