A 28-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death by four men near Thiruvottriyur market on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) night.
The deceased has been identified as ‘Kolaru’ Rajesh, 28, who was a resident of Ekavalliamman Koil street in Thiruvottriyur. He was involved in six criminal offences.
At 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday, while he was waiting near the market, the four-member gang came in two motorcycles and surrounded him. They attacked him using weapons, and fled the scene.
Murder in Ashok Nagar
Another man was hacked to death by unidentified men in Ashok Nagar on Wednesday (October 29) afternoon. His body with stab injuries was recovered by the police.
The deceased has been identified as Prakash from Puducherry. A senior police officer said, “We have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation is on to find the motive, and trace the suspects in connection with the murder.”
Murder bid foiled
The police claimed that they prevented a murder by quickly apprehending four persons, including a juvenile.
Around 11.30 p.m. on Monday (October 27), a special team from New Washermenpet police station, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted three men and a juvenile, who were hiding with knives near the Ajax bus stop on Tondiarpet High Road.
Upon inquiry, they revealed their plan to murder a man named Deepak from the same locality while he was on his way to work.
The arrested men were identified as Lokeshwaran, 20, Jayaraj, 20, and Parthiban, 22, of New Washermenpet, and a 17-year-old youth. The police seized two knives and a two-wheeler from the suspects.
Further investigation revealed that Lokeshwaran was involved in nine cases, Jayaraj three, and that Parthiban has two pending cases against them.
