AA 23-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death near Manavala Nagar in Tiruvallur district on Tuesday night. Police suspect that the murder was committed due to previous enmity. The deceased was identified as R. Naveen, 23.Â
He was reportedly drinking with two acquaintances near the Manavalan Nagar riverbank when a quarrel erupted among them. In a fit of rage, the duo allegedly attacked Naveen with a sickle, inflicting deep cuts on his leg, before fleeing the scene, said police sources.
On Wednesday morning, locals discovered the body and informed the Manavala Nagar Police, who sent it to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for postmortem.
A case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects.
