Hoax bomb threat at ED office in Nungambakkam

An unidentified person sent an email claiming that “bombs would explode” at the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Nungambakkam.

The email was sent to the official ID of the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police, and was later forwarded to the Greater Chennai City Police for action. The email addressed to the DGP and ED said: “Due to the KN Nehru ED Case, We as Dravidians Will Take the Responsibility to Blast the ED Office in Chennai… Today’s blast will serve as a warning to ED [sic].”

The police, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), conducted a thorough check of the premises, and found that the bomb threat was a hoax.
