The Udupi district administration on November 25 declared a holiday for educational institutions up to high school in three police station limits of Udupi city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on November 28.
Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa passed the order on Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar’s recommendation that students’ travel may get affected owing to security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.
In fact, Yashpal Suvarna, MLA, had urged the administration to declare a holiday for all institutions, offices, banks, and so on to enable people to watch the Prime Minister, who will be visiting the district after nearly three decades.
