The officials from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) have successfully retrieved lands belonging to the famous Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani worth ₹1316 crore during the last three years.
According to HR&CE Joint Commissioner Marimuthu, from May 9, 2022 to December 3, 2025, they had evicted encroachers from 137.95 acres from Dindigul, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni and Karur districts.
The officials had retrieved 8.52 lakh square feet of plots from encroachers spread across the districts and also evicted from 86,943 sq ft of buildings. In total, 467 encroachments were cleared and the properties worth ₹1,316 crore is free from encumbrance.
The administration had recently evicted a huge parcel of land near the temple, which is being used for parking of vehicles. Many devotees visiting the shrine had welcomed the pro-active move of the HR&CE department in getting the lands, gifted by devotees to the temple, free from any kind of encroachment.
