After a gap of a week, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) on Thursday resumed the drive of sealing properties, which were allegedly built illegally on the lands owned by the Balasubramanya Swamy Temple at Vennaimalai here.
The officials, who had served notices to those enjoying the properties to vacate them as per the order of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, visited Vennamalai amid heightened security and began sealing the shops situated near the temple. Though the traders and the local residents strongly opposed the action, the officials went ahead with the drive and sealed eight shops.
