Mr. Poojary said Patel had dreamt of hoisting the tricolour across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir. The Narendra Modi government, he said, realised Patel’s dream by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution and upholding the unity of the country. He said the Union government has been organising the Unity March every year in memory of Patel, who worked hard for the unification of the country. It was because of Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister, that the country has remained united even now.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal administered the unity pledge. Earlier, Mr. Poojary and Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa flagged off the Unity March.
MLAs A. Kiran Kumar Kodgi and Gurme Suresh Shetty were also present.
