Hundreds of devotees thronged the Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi temple at Burujupeta in One Town on the first day of ‘Margasira Masotsavam’ here on Friday (November 21). Priests organised special prayers to mark the occasion.
From the early hours, people from across the city and neighbouring districts made their way to the temple, leading to long queue lines. The temple management anticipate a heavier turnout on all the four Thursdays of the month, regarded as auspicious.
The RTC operated special buses from various parts of the city, and designated parking was arranged for devotees by the city police. Several CCTV cameras have been installed around the temple. The entire One Town area was decked up with colourful lighting.
Visakhapatnam South MLA P. Vamsikrishna Srinivas visited the temple along with his family and enquired about the arrangements taken up by the temple management.
