Palakkad’s MLA Rahul Mamkootathil said here on Monday that he would move legally against those who are attempting to finish him off by raising allegations of sexual misbehaviour against him. “I shall move legally at the right time,” he told the media.
Mr. Mamkootathil said there was nothing new in an audio clip that surfaced recently. “There is nothing new in it. The same thing is being said again and again in different forms and versions. I shall react when the time comes,” he said.
The MLA reiterated that he had not done anything against the law of the country. “Everyone knows the motive behind releasing an audio clip at this moment,” he said.
Mr. Mamkootathil said he would prove his innocence not before the media, but before the court of law. “Let investigations continue,” he said.
The MLA questioned the credibility of Malayalam television news channels for releasing audio clips purported to be his and later asking him to confirm their authenticity. “You should have verified with me before releasing the audio clips claiming them to be mine,” he told the media.
Mr. Mamkootathil said he would cooperate with the investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct and would explain his stance to the people after the inquiry.
