A total of nine students won gold medals in eight information technology (IT) certificate courses conducted as part of the School-University-Industry Tie up Scheme (SUITS) of the Bharathidasan University’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) during its 15th graduation ceremony held in Tiruchi on Saturday.

According to an IECD release, 1,02,775 students from Classes V to IX in 387 schools across the State appeared for the examinations in Computing Skills, Office Automation, Programming, Programming with C, Python, Graphic Design, Web Design and Mobile App and Web Development during the academic year 2024-25.

The gold medal winners are: C. Shivani (Computing Skills), Class V, Cambridge Matriculation Higher Secondary School (MHSS), Tirunelveli; D. Iniyaa (Office Automation), Class VI, Swamy Vivekananda MHSS, Perambalur; N. Akshaya (Programming Skills), Class VII, Gandhinagar MHSS, Tiruvannamalai; A. Gokula Saswanthiga, Class VIII (Progamming with C), NSVV MHSS, Dindigul; S. Hemapriya (Python), Class IX Gandhinagar MHSS, Tiruvannamalai; M. R. Lohendrajith, (Python), Class IX, Jayaseelan Memorial MHSS, Dindigul; E. Dhuvaraga (Graphic Design), Class VII, Panchayat Union Middle School, Perambalur, V. V. Karthikeyan (Web Design), Class VIII, and M. Gowri Shankari (Mobile App and Web Development), Class IX, both from Vethathiri Maharishi MHSS, Salem.

V. Rajesh Kannan, BDU Vice-Chancellor Committee member, gave away trophies to 15 outstanding schools of the year, which enrolled a minimum of 300 students in the skill development programmes besides achieving 100% results. In his address, Mr. Kannan said that SUITS is one of the best practices of BDU.

“It is clear that children need tech skills to succeed in their future jobs, but the benefits they gain from technical know-how are evident long before they enter the workforce. These courses help them with problem-solving, following instructions, and communications,” he said.

A.S. Sathiyaraj, CEO, Dhanalakshmi Tech Solutions, Tiruchengode, and P. Sasikala, principal, Avvai KSR Matric High School, Tiruchengode, felicitated the student achievers and their mentors.
