IFFI 2025: Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s ‘Amaran’ to be the opening film in Indian Panorama section

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s Tamil biographical war-action drama Amaran has been selected as the opening film in the Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Representing the film at the festival will be producers Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran, director Rajkumar Periasamy as well as the lead actors Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. The team is in Goa to participate in the screening ceremony on November 21.

Amaran has also been nominated for the Golden Peacock Award under the International Competition category at the festival. It is among the few Indian films to be nominated in the category along with the Malayalam film, Sarkeet(A Short Trip) and the Marathi film, Gondhal(Maharastrian Ritual).

Amaran is based on the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Set against the 2014 Qazipathri Operation, the film follows the valor and sacrifice of Major Mukund Varadarajan.

Released in theatres on October 31, 2024, the movie, produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, went on to become a blockbuster.
