IIT-Hyderabad director B.S. Murty on Wednesday stressed the need for researchers to collaborate and combine their expertise to drive stronger scientific outcomes. Speaking at the 38th foundation day of CSIR-CCMB here, he said institutions must foster a culture of exploration and hands-on learning among students.
He outlined IIT-H’s recent initiatives to support such innovation, including new models that engage students and faculty members in interdisciplinary work. He cited the institute’s advanced microscopy facility, which allows researchers to send samples to IIT-H and operate the microscope remotely to analyse them in real time, a press release informed.
CCMB director Vinay K. Nandicoori gave an overview of the institute’s progress over the past year, highlighting its participation in national missions such as the sickle cell anaemia eradication programme, breast cancer genomics and Phenome India. “It is only through bringing our skills and networks together that we can hope to strategically work towards the big burning problems,” he said.
