The Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kannur, will host the 14th Admiral’s Cup, bringing 35 countries to one of the world’s leading naval sailing championships beginning on Monday (December 8, 2025). The five-day event marks the highest international participation since its inception, reaffirming its growing stature in the global maritime arena, said a release issued by INA.

Instituted in 2010, the Admiral’s Cup promotes camaraderie and maritime cooperation among officer trainees of friendly foreign navies. The competition follows the Match Racing format using ILCA-6 class sailboats, testing tactical skills, endurance and seamanship.

Teams from Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Americas will compete, reflecting a wide cross-section of naval traditions. The championship aims to strengthen professional bonds and encourage healthy rivalry among future naval leaders.

INA’s modern sailing facilities and favourable coastal conditions of Ezhimala offer an ideal setting for races. Visiting teams will also take part in cultural exchanges and interactions showcasing Indian naval traditions.

The championship will be formally inaugurated on December 9, with four days of racing to follow. The event concludes on December 13 with awards for the top teams and individual performers, underscoring India’s commitment to global naval cooperation and professional development, according to the release.
