The State Lorry Owners Federation of Tamil Nadu (SLOFT), which announced an indefinite strike from December 10, postponed the strike following the Transport Minister’s assurance on Sunday.
Minister S.S. Sivasankar, who participated in a meeting to install the new office-bearers of SLOFT, discussed the indefinite lorry strike announced against the hike in fee for issuing fitness certificates for lorries.
Meanwhile, a release issued by the SLOFT on Sunday evening said that the Minister had assured them that the issue will be taken to the attention of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and steps will be taken to reduce the fee. Based on the assurance, the indefinite strike announced earlier was postponed until further notice, the release added.
