The indefinite strike called by Tamil Nadu Survey Officers’ Union (TNSOU), urging the fulfillment of their 18-point charter of demands, continued for the fourth day. Surveyors staged a sit-in protest in front of the Thoothukudi district Collectorate to press their demands.

The indefinite strike, which began on November 18, demands easing the workload of field staff, filling of vacancies, addressing pay related issues, restoring the downgraded firka surveyor post to the previous grade, appointing filed assistant on special time-scale of pay, among other requests.

As the strike continued for the fourth day, survey related services across Thoothukudi district were affected.

The protest was led by TNSOU district president K. Kaliraj. TNSOU district secretary K. Jeyasankar explained the demands. A large number of surveyors participated in the protest.
