Independent legislator announces formation of new political party in Puducherry

A new political party Namathu Makkal Kazhagam was launched by Independent legislator Nehru alias Kuppusamy in Puducherry.

In a statement, Mr. Nehru said a meeting of his supporters was held on Monday to discuss the political situation in the Union Territory. The meeting decided to launch a new party to protect the rights of Puducherry. The party would fight to obtain Statehood for Puducherry and also ensure social justice, he said.

“The party will fight to protect the interests of the people of Puducherry, their culture and provide a corruption-free government,” the release said.
