Andhra Pradesh Industries Minister T.G. Bharath on Tuesday called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and invited him to lay the foundation stone for four major defence manufacturing projects coming up in the State.
Addressing the media later, Mr. Bharath said the projects included a Defence Energetics & Ammunition Filling Complex by Kalyani Strategic Systems at Madakasira (Sri Sathya Sai district), an Artillery Shell and Multi-Mode Hand Grenade facility by HFCL at Donakonda, a Propellant and Weapon System Integration unit by Bharat Dynamics Limited, and a BDL underwater weapons and torpedo manufacturing facility in Anakapalle.
In another meeting, Mr. Bharath, along with MP B. Nagaraju, met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, urging him to introduce a dedicated âPassenger Bus Safety Actâ in view of the recent bus accidents, including the Kurnool tragedy, near Chinnatekur, in which 19 passengers were charred to death.
Mr. Bharath also requested the Union Minister for speedy action on the long-pending highway lighting from Gooty Petrol Bunk Circle to Peddatekur in Kurnool.
Highlighting the need for speedy clearance of the regional road connectivity proposals, including the KurnoolâBallari national highway plan, Mr. Bharath stressed that improved connectivity would ease traffic, boost trade and strengthen interstate links.
