Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy refuted the allegations of the Opposition regarding the new Industrial Land Transfer Policy, calling them “fabricated, baseless, and politically-motivated” and reminding that the policy existed even during the BRS rule.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, after participating in the public grievance programme, he said that the policy existed since the time of the BRS government, but now, they are claiming it as new “simply to create confusion”.

“Some BJP and BRS leaders have not even understood the policy properly. They should first study it before criticising,” he remarked. Taking a jibe at BRS leaders, he said, “They claim they will change the policy when they return to power, but the BRS won’t be coming to power, and the policy will not be changed.”

He added that the policy aims to transform Hyderabad into a pollution-free, globally recognisable city by relocating industries outside the urban core. Contrary to the Opposition’s allegations, the policy is “transparent and corruption-proof,” and designed to bring additional revenue to the State.

On the controversy surrounding power projects, the Minister dismissed BRS allegation of a ₹50,000 crore scam as ‘ridiculous’. He countered it by alleging that the Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem Power Project built during the BRS regime reflected irregularities.

“They purchased unused equipment from India Bulls and constructed the plant using outdated sub-critical technology. That is why the plant is in such poor condition today,” he stated.

Calling the Bhadrachalam project an unnecessary burden on the people of Telangana, he reiterated that “Opposition parties may continue their misinformation campaigns, but people can clearly see who is working for them and who is obstructing progress.”
