Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday described the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) as a “national model in character formation” for its discipline, spiritual grounding and commitment to free education.

The Vice-President was delivering the keynote address at the 44th convocation of the institution, at Prasanthi Nilayam here.

Recalling Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message that “service is not an obligation but a way of life,” Mr. Radhakrishnan urged the students to integrate service with professional excellence.

“The world now looks to India with respect under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said, and stressed that economic power must be used for uplift of society. He also cautioned the youth to stay away from drugs and uphold India’s timeless values.
