GITAM Deemed to be University will host the 13th International Conference of the Laboratory Animal Scientists Association (LASA), India, here on December 19-20, 2025. Three pre-conference workshops will be conducted on December 18 to support young researchers.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Preclinical Insights from Animal Studies on Drug Discovery and Translational Research.” Announcing the event, LASA president and CSIR-IGIB (Delhi) scientist Vijaya Pal Singh said that the conference will bring together leading experts, researchers, and professionals from across the world.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday (November 29, 2025), Mr. Singh said that LASA has grown into the largest organisation of laboratory animal science professionals in India, with over 1,300 life members. He noted that the conference will serve as a vital platform for exchanging advanced methodologies, exploring emerging scientific developments, and discussing critical insights shaping drug discovery and development.
The conference will focus on key aspects of laboratory animal health, welfare, ethics, and regulatory frameworks, along with recent advancements in experimental laboratory animal science.
The organising committee announced that the event will see participation from over 600 registered delegates, 100 volunteers, and renowned national and international speakers from the UK, USA, Singapore, Italy, and Thailand. Scientists from premier Indian institutions including ICMR, ICAR, CSIR, DBT, IISER, and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoAH&D) will also take part.
LASA vice president J. Mahesh Kumar, secretary R.K. Shakthi Devan, conference chairman Prof. L. Srinivas, conveners Nemani Hari Shankar, Nitin Yadav, and organising secretary G. Suhasin, were also present at the press meet.
