A day after ragging allegations surfaced against some senior students of the JNTUH University College of Engineering (JNTUH UCEJ), Nachupally, Jagtial district, the college authorities denied the allegations, citing the statements issued by the first year students about their ‘voluntary participation’ in a ‘fun-filled activity’ in a friendly atmosphere during the freshers’ day function.

Following circulation of a video showing some male students enacting a ‘mock wedding ceremony’ on social media, allegations of ragging by senior students at the college emerged, prompting the college authorities to conduct an internal probe into the incident.

The preliminary inquiry report found that the first year B. Tech (Mechanical) students voluntarily took part in the ‘fun activity’ during the interactive session between the first and second year students.

In a video statement on Sunday, the first year B. Tech (Mechanical) students said that they have participated in the ‘Marriage fun activity’ voluntarily without any force from seniors.
