Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav has criticised YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for “inciting party workers” to stage protests against the establishment of medical colleges in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had fixed exorbitant annual fee of ₹12 lakh and ₹20 lakh for seats in government medical colleges when he was Chief Minister, is now shedding crocodile tears,” Mr. Satya Kumar said, adding that the YSRCP leader was indulging in cheap politics.

Despite the people giving him a crushing defeat in the 2024 elections, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy did not learned any lesson, he said.

Referring to the YSRCP’s one-crore signature campaign against the PPP model, the Minister wondered how many of them could be fake. He asked Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy if he knew the difference between privatisation and PPP model.

“ Under the PPP model, the State government will retain full control over admission, reservation, fee regulation, and administration in all the 10 medical colleges proposed to be set up in the model. The land allotted for these colleges will remain government property,” the Minister said, adding that the State government reserved the right to intervene should there be any lapses.
