Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State general secretary Buddha Venkanna has termed YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s comments “trivialising the TTD Parakamani theft case” as irrational and insensitive.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, Mr. Venkanna said that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy should apologise for hurting the sentiments of the devotees of Lord Venkateswara.
The prime accused in the case, Ravi Kumar, had confessed to the crime, and yet Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was defending him. Wondering what could be the reason for Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to protect such an accused, the TDP leader alleged that the former Chief Minister had visited the Tirumala temple not out of devotion to the Lord but for political purposes.
He expressed confidence that the SIT investigation would expose the truth. He, however, expressed concern over Ravi Kumar’s safety in the wake of the recent suspicious death of the former Tirumala AVSO.
Mr. Venkanna also warned the YSRCP leaders, including Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani), to mind their language while speaking about Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister N. Lokesh, or their family members.
