
Newly-elected president of Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers Association, K. Prakash Rao.
The Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers Association (APPTA) State executive committee unanimously elected Kaki Prakash Rao from Kurnool district as its new State president.
The committee, which met on Sunday in Machilipatnam, elected Mr. Prakash Rao, who was serving as the association’s State general secretary, to succeed former president A.G.S. Ganapathi Rao. Mr. Ganapathi Rao retired from service on November 30. Meanwhile, M.G. Mahadi from Krishna district was unanimously elected as the State general secretary.
The meeting passed many resolutions including the grant of voting rights in the Legislative Council elections to Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) working across the State, to ensure promotions to primary school headmaster posts were given only to SGTs and to separate primary schools from high schools that currently run Classes 1 to 10 under a single management.
The meeting was attended by the newly-elected State president Kaki Prakash Rao, State general secretary Mahadi, State financial secretary Narayana Rao, Telangana State Primary Teachers Association president Satish Sharma, APPTA State Election Officer Raja Sagar, and presidents, general secretaries, and executive committee members from all districts.
