The first day of the winter session of the State Legislature in Belagavi saw thin attendance in the Assembly on Monday (December 8, 2025).

When the House was paying homage to noted personalities who died recently, there were just 100-110 members in the 224-member House. While there were around 55 members from the Opposition benches, the ruling benches accounted roughly for another 55 members.

It remains to be seen whether the attendance will increase from Tuesday (December 9, 2025) when the House will take up full-fledged business unlike on December 8, when the House transacted only for half a day as it was adjourned soon after paying homage to departed leaders in tune with precedence of doing so if the obituary motion refers to a sitting member.

The Assembly has witnessed thin attendance on several occasions. However, the sessions in Belagavi generally are well-attended.
