Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday directed officials to strictly prevent middlemen and driving school agents frequenting the Regional Transport Office (RTO) premises for citizens’ work.

Mr. Reddy, who held a meeting with the officials of the Transport Department in Mysuru, said a total of 31 services of the Transport Department are made available online promptly. ā€œThe public need not unnecessarily run around the offices,ā€ he said while appealing to them to make full use of Sakala scheme, which assures delivery of government services in a time-bound manner.

He said the ā€˜One Nation One Card’ – which allows commuters to pay for transport across different modes with a single card – is expected to be launched in Mysuru from December 1.

Mr. Reddy also said the new Registration Certificates (RC) cards of vehicles and Driving Licenses (DL) will carry QR codes that will contain detailed information about the vehicle and the driver respectively.

The Regional Transport Department in Mysuru division had generated a total revenue of ₹648 crore from April 2025 to October 2025, he said while adding that the fine amount collected during the inspections conducted in the period totalled ₹15.17 crore.

While the construction of a new rural bus stand in Mysuru city at a cost of ₹120 crore was under way, Mr. Reddy instructed officials of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to inspect the toilets in bus stations that fall under their respective jurisdictions.

More bus trips to Outer Ring Road

Meanwhile, Mr. Reddy said the KSRTC had received demands for increasing the number of buses and trips to areas along the Outer Ring Road in Mysuru. The demand for more buses and trips to Outer Ring Road had come into view of the new areas coming up on the outskirts of Mysuru city, he said.

He said KSRTC will identify land for construction of four new bus stations.

While a proposal had been submitted by the KSRTC for deploying 100 electric buses in Mysuru district, Mr. Reddy said preparations were under way at Bannimantap for their maintenance. A proposal had been submitted for constructing a bus station at Tagaduru also, he said.

Additional Transport Commissioner Omkareshwari briefed the Minister on the Transport Department’s functioning in Mysuru division at the meeting, which was also attended by Mysuru South Regional Transport Officer Vasanth Chauhan, Mysuru East Regional Transport Officer Madhura and other Transport Department officials.
