Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader and MP Thol Thirumavalavan on Sunday said the Kerala government’s “acceptance” of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) was shocking. He told journalists in Sivaganga Tamil Nadu, would remain a role mode for other States (in opposing the NEP).

Opposing the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) proposed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, he said, the position of the DMK alliance parties was that the SIR should not be implemented in the State.

“The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin must immediately convene an all-party meeting on this matter. All parties, including the AIADMK and DMK, must stand united to block the SIR,” Mr. Thirumavalavan said. Implementing this in Tamil Nadu while a related case is pending in the Supreme Court was unacceptable, he said.

Chiding what he called efforts of BJP in creating a rift in the DMK alliance, he said: “The BJP, unable to tolerate the DMK-VCK alliance, is spreading slander. They are pursuing hate politics targeting us. Their goal is somehow to create a rift between the DMK and VCK. However, they will be disappointed in that effort.”

Regarding actor Vijay’s political future, he said the actor himself must decide his future political course. “Whether Vijay will make an impact in the election will be known only after the results,” he added.
