The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) directed the Revenue department to temporarily accept land tax from the over 600 families living in the disputed land at Munambam in Ernakulam district.
This comes in the wake of another ruling by the High Court in October that the disputed land is not a Waqf property, but a gift presented by Mohammed Siddique Sait in favour of the Farook College management.

The latest direction comes on a plea by Munambam Bhoo Samrakshana Samithiand others which submitted that the village officer concerned was not accepting tax, citing Waqf Board claims over the property.
The residents of Munambam had been hoping for the restoration of the revenue rights of their holdings, based on Section 2 of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, that freed trusts created “by a Muslim for a purpose similar to a Waqf” from the ambit of the Waqf Act.
