Kerala native held with methamphetamine in Coimbatore

A special unit of the Coimbatore City Police on Wednesday arrested a man from Kerala with synthetic drug methamphetamine.

The police said that R. Peter (27) alias Ramesh from Pallivasal in Kerala’s Idukki district was arrested with about 80 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the police, Peter was residing at Rajalakshmi Colony at TVS Nagar, near Kavundampalayam. He was procuring methamphetamine from known sources in Bengaluru and selling it in and around Kavundampalayam.

The police said that Peter was under their watch based on specific information. He went to Bengaluru on November 22 and returned to Coimbatore on Tuesday. After confirming his presence at Edayarpalayam, the police carried out a search at a hotel room, where he was staying. He was found in possession of methamphetamine in small packets, said the police.

The accused and the seized contraband were handed over to the Kavundampalayam police for investigation.
