Kerala YouTuber booked over allegations against senior police officer

The Museum police on Wednesday registered a case against YouTuber K.M. Shajahan for allegedly making “false” allegations against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) S. Sreejith on social media in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case.

The accused allegedly made the contentious remarks against the ADGP, who is also the Chief Police Coordinator at Sabarimala, and the police force of involvement in the alleged theft. He is also accused of circulating content containing statements that promote enmity between communities on religious grounds.

The case has been registered under Sections 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 196(1)(a) (promoting enmity between different groups) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act (causing nuisance to another person through repeated or undesirable messages via any means of communication).
