Harish Rai in ‘KGF: Chapter 1’.
Harish Rai, who acted in the blockbuster KGF films, has passed away due to cancer. He was 55.
Rai, who is survived by his wife and two children, essayed the role of Khasim, fondly called chacha, in KGF: Chapter 1 (2018)and KGF:Chapter 2 (2022), starring Yash in the lead.
The actor was recently in the news for seeking financial help for his cancer treatment. Rai was reportedly suffering from thyroid cancer. Stars from the Kannada film industry came forward to help Rai with his treatment.
Rai has played a prominent role in the cult fillm Om (1995),starring Shivarajkumar and directed by Upendra. His other major works include Majestic, Deadly Soma and Sanju Weds Geetha.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar condoled the death of Rai. “The passing away of Harish Rai is an extremely sorrowful news. The film industry has become poorer with his death,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
