Khammam labour officer held accepting ₹15,000 bribe

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an assistant labour officer in Khammam after he was allegedly caught accepting ₹15,000 bribe to process a beneficiary application.

An official release from the bureau said Karne Chander, working at the Assistant Labour Office on Madira Road, was trapped by the ACB’s Khammam Range on Monday at 5.10 p.m..

He is accused of demanding money from a complainant to forward an application related to the complainant’s father’s death and facilitating the sanction of ₹1.30 lakh in natural death funeral assistance under the Telangana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The ACB said the marked notes were recovered from Chander’s possession. He was arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.

The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons. The public has been urged to report bribe demands through the ACB’s toll free number 1064 or via WhatsApp and other official social media channels, with an assurance that identities will remain confidential.
